Sources and Inspirations

Hey there! I thought now would be a good time to acknowledge some of the people and places that will be helping me see this project through to the end (someday). The good folks over at disneysub.com are an extremely knowledgeable bunch about everything that ever existed (or never existed) regarding the 20K Under the Sea Nautilus, and I have been over there studying everything I can to try to get the right feel.

Jeff Porteous (pictured) and Paul Crozier are certifiable Disney Nautilus nuts in their own right. I will be relying upon their vast enthusiasm and knowledge to keep me on track and moving forward. Jeff's own den was the seed that got me thinking along these lines in the first place. Paul is running an ongoing build blog of his own Radio Control Nautilus like Jeff's above, and was the inspiration to document my room conversion online for family and friends.

Finally my understanding wife who never can really keep up with all the angles and dangles in my life but is supportive nonetheless. That she is ALLOWING me to do this at all is amazing! Remarkable lady.

And so it begins...

Okay this is where it all starts. This is what the room looks like now. Well, its what it looked like before I packed everything up. Right now it is much more barren and..white. A sea of white. I am gathering parts and pieces right now and studying all the interior shots I could find over at disneysub.com. As you can see this room is annoyingly square in nature but if you have even a passing familiarity with 20K Under the sea nothing on the Nautilus is a square. Its all curves and angles. I think I have a couple ways to break up the "cube" figured out. We shall see.
